PAD Challenge Day 21: Fill In The Blank

Today’s prompt is to fill in the blank, using the phrase ‘According To (blank). Here goes..

According To The Map of My Life

I pave new roads
Every day
Pushing forward
Without a compass
Looking behind
Writing unsent postcards
To the worlds I’ve passed through
Throwing them down
Before me
Like weathered stones
To step upon
Where I’ve been before
Only one place
I’d travel to again
The others
Never to revisit again.

NaPoWriMo #20: The Hero Poem

Write about my hero, past or present? That’s easy.

You showed up
Out of the blue
In your invisible cape
Of awesomeness.

PAD Challenge Day 20

There are two prompt choices for today. I chose to write a poem about looking back.

I tried finding some musical inspiration.
Something to jar a memory.
Then this song played on my ipod.
I couldn’t come up with words.
Only a feeling that ended up being a lump in my throat.
I remembered.

NaPoWriMo #19: Light Bulb Moment

Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is light bulb moment or aha! moment.

Dreadlocked dudes
Dancing in spandex capri pants
Tapping my foot to the beat
Blame it on the rain
What do you mean
Say it isn’t so
Milli Vanilli
Damn you
Freakin lip synced
Guilty pleasure
I still love you.

PAD Challenge Day 19

Today’s prompt is to write about a person using that person’s name in the poem.

Laura Ingalls Wilder

Pretty girls in prairie dresses
Rolling down a hill
Bucktoothed ponderer
Who packed a punch
I really hated Nellie
But I loved her ringlets
She always hated you
Wasn’t Almonzo a little old for you?
Maybe that was just a show
And not real life.

PAD Challenge Day 16

Today’s prompt is to write a death poem.

Sprawled upon the greenest grass
The sun shining warmly upon my skin
Looking up at sky so blue
Telling you about my day
Laughing about a silly story
We had once shared
Remember when’s
Quiet moments
In a field full of many
Rolling over
Arms hugging a mound of earth
With 6 feet of dirt between us
Above so warm
So cold.

PAD Challenge Day 15: Deadlines

Today has been a busy day for me and work was brain frying. Thank goodness for this time to write! The prompt for today is deadlines. I am not sure how I’m going to do this, but I’m going to wing it. LOL! 🙂

I don’t really know the time
Or even the day
Just seem to wing it all
Getting to this and that
As my hand falls upon them
Perhaps I’ll complete this
Then there is distraction
A handsome face
Or shiny penny
Damn, I missed another deadline.
