body, flaws, NaPoWriMo, Poem
This is an interesting prompt. “Write a poem about flaws and perfection in yourself or in nature or write about how you feel about being imperfect or perfect.” Mine goes something like this…
My Daily Imperfection
There she is
That girl in the mirror
Always a bad hair day
Miniature eyelashes
Forehead too big
Hips too wide
Legs too chunky
They jiggle when I walk
Muffin top
In the perfect jeans
The body imperfect
But, damn
Those chili cheese fries
Were worth it.

hero, NaPoWriMo, Poem
Write about my hero, past or present? That’s easy.
You showed up
Out of the blue
In your invisible cape
Of awesomeness.

Light Bulb Moment, Milli Vanilli, NaPoWriMo, Poem
Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is light bulb moment or aha! moment.
Dreadlocked dudes
Dancing in spandex capri pants
Tapping my foot to the beat
Blame it on the rain
What do you mean
Say it isn’t so
Milli Vanilli
Damn you
Freakin lip synced
Guilty pleasure
I still love you.

NaPoWriMo, Poem, secret codes
Today’s prompt sounds so fun and random!
An Ode To Sonic Drive-In
Tater tots wrestling
In a mini-pool
Of hot melted cheese
And chili
I will defeat you
Says the plastic spork
I feel like I’m choking
Saved by the cherry limeade
My belly is the champion.

NaPoWriMo, Poem
Today’s prompt was to write to the thing you didn’t choose. It could be a thing, or a person. Here is my attempt.
How could it have been
All those years
Spent waiting
Writing
Calling
The time spent together
Sparce
Treasured
I allowed it
And it was painful
I would cry
You would soothe me
With words
Never strong arms
Soft touch
Kisses
Only words
I couldn’t go on
Or was it you
In the end
That didn’t choose me.

Love, NaPoWriMo, Poem
Today’s NaPoWriMo prompt is: unusual love connections. The instructions were to come up with five or more unusual metaphors for the “object of our affection/obsession”. Here it goes.
MY LOVE
The sweetest candy
Sugary on my mouth
My favorite song
Humming the melody
In my heart
I know all the words
The longest dance
I never want it to end.

NaPoWriMo, Poem, tanka
Riding home on a Summer’s day
he drove and sung along
as I smiled I smelled
rolling down the windows I thought
he shouldn’t have had jalepenos on his burger

Home
My favorite place to be
Looking out onto
Biggest blue sky
To stare into
For hours
So far away from me
Smells like cow poo
I miss you
Texas

NaPoWriMo, Poem
HE SAYS
Tell me
He says to me
Tell me more
Tell me
And make me feel like I was really there
I wasn’t paying attention
When it happened
When you thought it
Tell me the words
That ran through your head
That you were aching to say
When I wasn’t really there
When you got quiet
Tell me
He says.

Poetry
inside out, NaPoWriMo, Poem
It doesn’t matter
How pretty the dress
Or how
Flawless the makeup
My sultry smile
Is no distraction
Your eyes always piercing
Like a superpower
Through translucent skin
Reading the words
I have hidden
Just beneath the skin.
